Fruit Chaat

Fruit chaat is a popular Indian street food and snack made with a variety of fresh fruits mixed with tangy and spicy seasoning. Here’s a simple recipe to make fruit chaat at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mixed fruits (such as apples, bananas, grapes, oranges, pomegranate seeds, mangoes, etc.), chopped or cubed
  • 1 small cucumber, chopped
  • 1 small raw mango (optional), peeled and chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional, adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt (kala namak), or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped, for garnish
  • Sev (crispy chickpea flour noodles) for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and chop all the fruits and vegetables as needed. You can use any combination of fruits you prefer.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped fruits, cucumber, raw mango (if using), and red onion (if using).
  3. Add the chopped green chili (if using), fresh lemon juice, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, black salt, and red chili powder (if using). Toss everything together gently to coat the fruits evenly with the seasoning.
  4. Taste the fruit chaat and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more lemon juice, chaat masala, or black salt according to your taste.
  5. Once seasoned to your liking, transfer the fruit chaat to serving bowls or plates.
  6. Garnish the fruit chaat with chopped fresh cilantro leaves and sev (if using).
  7. Serve the fruit chaat immediately as a refreshing snack or appetizer.

Enjoy your homemade fruit chaat! It’s a delightful blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors that’s perfect for any occasion.
