Grilled Corn (Bhutta)

Grilled corn, known as “bhutta” in India, is a popular street food and snack item enjoyed by many people, especially during monsoon or winter seasons when fresh corn is abundant. Here’s a simple recipe for making grilled corn:

Ingredients:

  • Fresh corn on the cob
  • Butter or ghee (clarified butter)
  • Salt
  • Red chili powder or paprika (optional)
  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing the corn. Peel away the husks and remove the silk strands from each cob. You can leave a small section of the husk attached for a handle if you like.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you don’t have a grill, you can also use a stovetop grill pan or an oven broiler.
  3. Brush each ear of corn with melted butter or ghee. You can also sprinkle a little salt and red chili powder or paprika for added flavor, if desired.
  4. Place the corn directly on the grill grates or on the grill pan. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the corn kernels are tender and slightly charred.
  5. Once the corn is cooked, remove it from the grill and place it on a serving plate. Optionally, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the grilled corn for extra zest.
  6. Serve the grilled corn hot, either as is or with additional butter or seasoning on the side.

Enjoy your delicious grilled corn (bhutta) as a tasty snack or side dish!
