Tandoori Fish Tikka

Tandoori Fish Tikka is a popular Indian appetizer or starter made by marinating fish pieces in a blend of yogurt and spices, then grilling or baking them until they’re tender and charred on the edges. Here’s a recipe to make Tandoori Fish Tikka:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams boneless fish fillets (such as salmon, tilapia, or cod), cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon tandoori masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes if using wooden skewers

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, tandoori masala powder, red chili powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt, and vegetable oil or melted butter. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
  2. Add the fish cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  4. Thread the marinated fish cubes onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  5. If grilling, lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has charred edges. If baking, place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time, or until the fish is cooked through and lightly browned.
  6. Once cooked, remove the Tandoori Fish Tikka from the grill or oven and transfer them to a serving platter.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.

Enjoy the succulent and flavorful Tandoori Fish Tikka as a delicious appetizer or starter!
