Grilled corn, known as “bhutta” in India, is a popular street food and snack item enjoyed by many people, especially during monsoon or winter seasons when fresh corn is abundant. Here’s a simple recipe for making grilled corn:
Ingredients:
- Fresh corn on the cob
- Butter or ghee (clarified butter)
- Salt
- Red chili powder or paprika (optional)
- Lemon wedges (optional)
Instructions:
- Start by preparing the corn. Peel away the husks and remove the silk strands from each cob. You can leave a small section of the husk attached for a handle if you like.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you don’t have a grill, you can also use a stovetop grill pan or an oven broiler.
- Brush each ear of corn with melted butter or ghee. You can also sprinkle a little salt and red chili powder or paprika for added flavor, if desired.
- Place the corn directly on the grill grates or on the grill pan. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the corn kernels are tender and slightly charred.
- Once the corn is cooked, remove it from the grill and place it on a serving plate. Optionally, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the grilled corn for extra zest.
- Serve the grilled corn hot, either as is or with additional butter or seasoning on the side.
Enjoy your delicious grilled corn (bhutta) as a tasty snack or side dish!
